Geula is a central traditional neighborhood, whose residents are mostly tolerant religious Jews. It is simple and modest, and in many ways, is a city within the city, for you can easily find all your needs within the neighborhood. There are countless schools and synagogues, and the billboards there present political and social messages as well as the usual advertisements. And there are restaurants and stores of all sorts. It neighbors the Meah Shearim neighborhood to one side, where you can find the ultra orthodox of Jerusalem, but there are also many ultra orthodox in Geula too. Between these two neighborhoods is the famous Shabbes intersection, where 40 years ago, the resident locals protested vehicular traffic on the Sabbath, involved the whole country in a dramatic debate, defied the police, and eventually won their cause. So much could be written about this wonderful neighborhood, and so many pictures could be shown. This is just a very small selection of my impressions.
